Book Cover Design

I collaborated with author Per Roth to design both original and alternate book covers for the Karisuma Karma series, a dystopian science fiction trilogy set three hundred years in the future. This project showcases my ability to develop cohesive visual branding across multiple titles while working closely with an author to realize their creative vision.

Story

The trilogy follows Brad’s quest for revenge in a future crushed under corporate rule, journeying through the chaotic megacity of Karisuma with unlikely allies Pop and Nicole, hunting a mysterious cartel leader whose obsession threatens humanity’s survival.

Design Challenge

Create a series identity that immediately signals the science fiction, adventure, and action genres while maintaining visual cohesion across three books and offering alternate cover options for different markets or formats.

Creative Approach

Working in close collaboration with Per Roth, I drew heavy inspiration from Blade Runner’s neon-soaked cyberpunk aesthetic and contemporary science fiction visual language to capture the trilogy’s dystopian megacity setting. The cover designs incorporate genre-appropriate elements—futuristic cityscapes, dramatic lighting, and bold typography—that resonate with sci-fi readers while establishing a distinctive series brand. I developed both original and alternate versions for each book, providing flexibility for different publication strategies while maintaining consistent visual DNA across all iterations.
