Team Logo Design

I designed the official track and field team logo for the La Grande High School, creating a fierce, memorable identity for the program where I once competed as a shotput thrower and 100-meter sprinter. This project combined professional sports branding expertise with personal understanding of the team’s culture and competitive spirit.

Challenge

Develop a bold athletic logo that captures the fierce energy of track and field while incorporating specific elements—wings to represent speed, and tiger references honoring the school’s mascot—all within the official school color palette.

Design Solution

I created two distinct versions of the logo, both centered around the “LG” lettermark that anchors the design. The primary shared element is a dynamic wing integrated into the LG monogram, symbolizing the speed, agility, and flight inherent to track and field athletics. One version features tiger scratch marks cutting through the composition, adding an aggressive edge that references the school mascot while reinforcing the competitive nature of the sport. Both versions utilize La Grande High School’s official team colors, ensuring brand consistency across all athletic programs while giving the track and field team its own distinctive identity.

The dual-version approach provides flexibility for different applications—the cleaner version works well for uniforms and formal materials, while the scratched version delivers extra impact for promotional posters, spirit wear, and social media.
