Billboard Design
Large-Format Outdoor Advertising Campaign

I designed a highway billboard for The Joey & Lauren Morning Show, a project that required balancing multiple brand identities within the strict constraints of outdoor advertising.
Challenge
Create an eye-catching design readable in under three seconds by drivers traveling at highway speeds—a fundamental requirement of effective billboard advertising.
Design Strategy
Working within billboard design best practices, I kept the composition intentionally simple and focused. I strategically integrated the station’s existing brand colors, the radio station logo, and Joey & Lauren’s personal brand logo to create visual cohesion while maintaining brand recognition across multiple touchpoints. A dynamic photo of the hosts adds personality and human connection, making the morning show approachable and memorable to potential listeners.
Key Highlights
- Applied the “3-second rule” of billboard design, ensuring instant readability at 60mph without sacrificing visual impact
- Maintained clear visual hierarchy across multiple brand elements (dual logos, brand colors, photography) while avoiding visual clutter
- Created high-impact design through strategic color contrast and minimal text, maximizing memorability within the limitations of outdoor advertising
Outcome
A clean, attention-grabbing billboard that successfully promotes the morning show while respecting the unique demands of highway advertising—where simplicity and instant recognition are paramount.
